Modern Apprenticeship in:
Construction
GRAHAM Construction would like to offer work experience opportunities on their North West Campus and St. Joseph’s College projects to pupils, students and unemployed residents of Dumfries & Galloway. They also still have places available on the Dalbeattie Learning Campus project.
The application process will be as follows:
- Anyone interested in the placements should applying with an up-to-date CV and a letter detailing the opportunity or opportunities they are interested in.
- Applications should be sent direct to Debbie.Rutherford@graham.co.uk and copied to workexperience@dumgal.gov.uk for our records.
- Successful applicants will require a CSCS certificate (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) before starting the work placement and to gain this certificate the applicant will need to complete an online CITB Health, Safety and Environment test.
- Pupils interested in a career in the construction industry will require this certificate before they can access any building sites therefore, now may be the appropriate time for them to achieve this certification and have it added to their CV’s for future applications.
- Pupils who have not passed the test but have completed the online practice sessions may still be considered.
- Pupils must be 16 years of age before their placement can begin (unless applying for Quantity Surveying placements) therefore please ensure date of birth is included when making application.

We are looking for a Cheese Making Apprentice to assist in the dairy. The main job requirements are a love for cheese and an eagerness to learn! Experience in food production, artisan produce or the dairy industry would be an advantage, but not essential for this role, as you will be trained.
We’re a young modern company with a small team here at Beyond The Burn Farm and everyone mucks in! All roles include all aspects of the business from the cheese making to placing the final packaged product on the lorry out for delivery.
The right candidate will learn everything there is to know about making our cheeses. This role will involve making various cheeses, brining the cheese, packaging the cheese and working on the development of new products.
This role would suit someone living in and around the Dumfries area. Once trained and commitment is shown there may be further opportunities in the future. The right person should be able to commit to a minimum of 30 hours per week with the role and responsibilities growing over time. This great opportunity to be part of a growing business, learn some new skills and part of welcoming team!

Rugby Apprentice Community Coach Required
Dumfries Saints Rugby Club is seeking to sponsor a suitable young person aged 16 to 19 through a Scottish Rugby Union Modern Apprentice Level 3 in Leisure Management.
The successful candidate will be employed full time by the Scottish Rugby Union in a one year programme on the National Minimum Wage during which time they will work alongside the new Dumfries SaintsYouth Development Manager.
Career Opportunities
The skills you learn throughout your programme will equip you for careers in rugby and sport development
Many previous graduates of this programme have become Development Officers and work in administrative roles within Scottish Rugby. Others have gone on to do Sport Development courses at College and University and even Physical Education at University.

The closing date for applications to the Scottish Rugby Union is 29th May but applicants should first seek the endorsement and sponsorship of Dumfries Saints Rugby Club where preference will be given to candidates who:

* Are computer literate with working knowledge of MS Office packages (Word and Outlook) and are skilled in social media.
* Can demonstrate good written and oral communication skills and good organisational and time keeping skills.
* Have a driving licence and access to a vehicle
